Wells Fargo Arena

Looking for some indoor fun while visiting the Des Moines area?  The newly renovated downtown Des Moines is now the proud home of the new Wells Fargo Arena and the Iowa Convention Center. 

Depending on the season, you’ll find all sorts of fun family activities available, including several professional sports teams: 

• Iowa Barnstormers – The first ever Arena bowl champions are now back in Des Moines, this time with an Arena 2 team.  If you like action packed professional football during the NFL/College offseason, this is the place to be!
• Iowa Energy – Throughout the winter months, the Wells Fargo Arena is the home of the Iowa Energy.   The Energy are the Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns affiliates in the NBA Developmental League.  True to their parent clubs, these teams love to play NBA style basketball at a fast pace, creating a lot of action and fun for attendees.
• Iowa Chops – The Iowa Chops are the Anaheim Ducks new American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate hockey team.  Here you’ll find a number of great players that are just an injury away from playing in the National Hockey League (NHL). 

In addition to these popular sports franchies, there are also a large number of other events are held at the Wells Fargo Arena.    Each year Wells Fargo Arena hosts many of the State of Iowa’s high school championships, including men’s and women’s basketball, men’s wrestling, and more!

Other events include concerts, festivals, expos, weddings, tournaments, and smaller sporting events such as boxing, ultimate fighting, and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) events).
